Dan Horne
Principal Consultant
I'm Dr. Dan Horne, Principal Consultant at Jenrick International, based in our Bedford office. I lead a dynamic team supporting Engineering and Manufacturing clients across a wide range of industries. We specialise in delivering both technical and commercial roles for organisations building teams outside of the UK.
With over a decade of experience in recruiting for STEM-focused businesses—across sectors including automotive, chemicals, HVAC, Special Purpose Machinery, OEMs, Market Research, and IT—I've worked with clients across five continents, with a strong focus on the EU and UK markets.
Before moving into recruitment, I spent over 10 years in academia. I hold a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design & Technology and completed a PhD exploring the impact of environmental product labelling on designers in UK SMEs. I’ve taught undergraduates at Loughborough University's Design School, contributed to research projects, and worked in administrative roles within the Chemistry Department and the Careers & Employability Centre.
My hands-on engineering background includes experience in the packaging industry, teaching design and technology to students aged 11–18 in both public and private schools, as well as work in the automotive and motorsports sectors.
Drawing on this broad mix of industry and academic experience, I’ve been able to understand highly niche client requirements and build long-standing relationships with stakeholders up to board level, whether in FTSE100 companies or tech startups.
Outside of work, I’m a 1st Team Player and qualified coach for the Bedford Tigers Wheelchair Rugby League team. I also enjoy football, ten-pin bowling, getting out into nature with my family, tackling complex board games, indulging in DIY projects, and I’m hoping to get another classic car soon!
