Maintenance Manager

Job description

Are you a Maintenance Manager who has experience of managing and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers looking to join a manufacturing business in Birmingham who has £30M worth of projects currently running, to improve production lines and machinery. This role offers a salary of £55-60K working Monday to Friday days and would be ideal for someone who is a strong people manager.

The Role:

  • Leading and developing a team of 6 Engineers across various skill sets
  • Allocate maintenance resources effectively to ensure rapid response to any production issues
  • Ensure effective execution of planned maintenance and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies
  • Maintain discipline, professionalism and high standards within the team
  • Provide strong leadership coaching and development to the maintenance team to improve technical capabilities and team performance. Whilst maintaining a skills matrix and arrange internal and external training courses for the team
  • Ensure the maintenance system is completed effectively whilst maintaining product quality and regulatory standards
  • Support the implementation of reliability improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and report KPI's for OEE, planned vs reactive maintenance ratio and maintenance backlog
  • Promote lean manufacturing principles within maintenance activities
  • Co-ordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimise downtime
  • Ensure spare part inventories are maintained appropriately and cost effectively
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health and Safety regulations and company procedures

Suitable Candidate:

  • Apprentice trained Maintenance engineer
  • Experienced Maintenance Manager from a fast paced manufacturing business
  • Proven experience of coaching and developing a Maintenance team
  • Strong background of maintaining industrial equipment
  • Experience of working within businesses who have a high equipment reliability expectations - very similar to 1st tier automotive sector
  • Strong understanding of PPM systems
  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems including conveyors, robotics, pneumatics etc
  • Strong communication skills as this role involves liaising with production engineering and management teams
